by Jennifer C, Sunnybank Member and Understand Us Consultant
Last Thursday I went to the County Council to have an exhibition event with the Sunnybank staff Dorathy and Sarah.
When we arrived there we started setting up things like banners , leaflets etc. That event was the first time I had ever had it before when I was in Hong Kong .
On that day my duties it was type up the email on the spreadsheet and if the people came up then I had a talk with them about Sunnybank , under the Sunnybank Trust there will be our Understand Us
Most of the people ask me about the future class , what do we do in the future class? What topics did we have for each session? Then I said every session it will be different , we will have a future manager called Clarie , she is the one who had one to one with us , to set a goal for each of us.
People ask our Understand Us group quite a lot of questions about - who can join our group? Is it that everyone can join or have to be Sunnybank members? What project are we doing at the moment? Did we enjoy it? This kind of questions etc.
For our Understand Us group in this last few month we had done such a lot of works like
Prepare the training pack for the staff , contact the different companies and look up their information from the internet and type them up on the spreadsheet.
We got the meeting from the County Council in the evening meeting last month and they are proud of our presentation.
Coming up we will have a Support living project and we have to be done by 28 of November.
So it's quite a lot of stuff getting on. But during that project or stuff I’m doing at the moment I’m enjoying doing it and I can learn new things from them.
I can use my computer skills back when I was at college in Hong Kong. I’m so proud of myself.
After the end of the day , we heard some good news from the County Council .
They want our Understand Us to do the presentation again like last time with the Epsom and Ewell. They will put our video from last Thursday on the news at the County Council.
This is my very good experience to have a talk with the County Council people.
