NHS Workshop | Understand Us

by Jennifer C, Sunnybank Member & Understand Us Consultant

Last Friday we went to the main building of the County Council to have a talk about the NHS and how to help young adults with learning disabilities. During the talk we watched the video about how people have disabled how to help them to get more support from the nurse and doctor during their appointment at the hospital or GP.

During the first talk I felt a bit nervous because I was worried about the fire alarm. I have mentioned about the Sunflower lanyard, how to help people when they are around. For Example: At the shopping mall if they needed help, bank or when they are traveling of public transport etc.

We want to let people know about hospital passports, how to help people when they are at the hospital or GP, to let the doctor or nurse get more information and it will help them faster to look through the patient information.

I find that the second talk is a bit different from the first one because it is shorter and I feel more confident than the first one.
